Life can often feel overwhelming, but no one should have to go through things on their own. When these feelings get to be too much to bear, it may be difficult to know where to turn to get the help you deserve. I aim to provide a safe space for clients so that we can work together to enact positive changes and achieve your aspirations.
Everyday brings experiences whether they are new or a routine, positive or negative, wanted or unwanted. I strive to create a supportive space where clients can feel secure as they work towards their goals, address challenges, and gradually heal from past traumas and conflicts one step at a time.
Educational Background:
B.S . in Psychology and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Phoenix. I have experience with cognitive psychology, individual counseling, crisis intervention, trauma, and family, couple, and child counseling. These courses have equipped me with knowledge and techniques to work with multiple populations (teens and adults). I use a combination of a cognitive and holistic approach, focusing on changing behaviors and recognizing the client’s needs as a whole (mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually). I also draw from attachment theory, parts work (IFS) and psychodynamic approaches. I work with teens and adults helping with life transitions, ADHD, neurodiversity, gender fluid and existential issues.
I work mainly with anxiety, depression, and grief, feeling stuck or frozen, achieving personal growth goals, relationships, self-esteem, processing and healing from past traumas, eating disorders and working through transitions in life in the most possible healthy way. I believe that every individual, regardless of age, gender identity, sexuality, ethnicity, or mental health status, has a right to experience the beauty of counseling and improving their mental well-being and way of living.
Treating anxiety and depression from an attachment perspective focuses on addressing the underlying relational and emotional patterns rooted in early attachment experiences. This approach aims to develop secure attachment behaviors and reduce anxiety by fostering trust, safety, and emotional regulation. I am a firm believer that regardless of the symptoms you are experiencing and circumstances, the human being has an extensive intrinsic capacity for healing when exposed to the right environment, in this case, the therapeutic environment. Healing from attachment trauma involves addressing deep-rooted emotional wounds, often stemming from unmet needs or difficulties in early relationships. Therefore, improving and meeting these needs and by corrective experiences, healing happens impacting all aspects of your life long and beyond your initial goals.
Therapy may not be a quick fix, but the effort over time can improve your mental health and sense of self.
Outside of therapeutic settings, I enjoy spending time with my two cats or completing a jigsaw puzzle.
Victoria works at the Tysons Corner and Falls Church office and online.
