If you’re feeling disconnected from your emotions or struggling but can’t name why, I want to help reconnect you with your feelings and find self-compassion and understanding. If your inner critic feels loud and impossible to ignore, I can help you quiet it, so you can begin to trust your own voice. If you’re struggling in your relationships, we can work together to help you set boundaries and create new relational patterns.
These issues are not uncommon, and you don’t have to face them alone.
My approach is person-centered, meaning I believe everyone has the ability to make positive change in their life. I also work through an attachment-focused lens, as our early relationships can shape us in ways we may not always realize or be able to articulate. I’m not a “blank slate” therapist. I bring my warm, empathetic, and approachable personality — as well as my sense of humor — into our work together because research tells us that the therapeutic relationship is one of the strongest drivers of change in therapy. My own experience in counseling has been part of my journey of personal growth, and it inspired me to become a counselor myself.
Areas of Focus:
I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship difficulties (including narcissistic and emotional abuse), negative self-image, and other concerns. I also help clients with complex medical conditions, particularly hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and POTS. I have lived experience with these chronic illnesses and hold a deep, personal understanding of how pain and physical health impact mental health.
About me:
I am currently completing my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at the College of William & Mary, and I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, summa cum laude, from American University. Prior to entering the counseling profession, I worked for two decades as a writer, editor, and communications strategist. Outside of my professional life, I enjoy reading, taking walks in nature, and being a loving, fun auntie to my nieces and nephew.
Whether you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, curious about yourself, or simply seeking a space to be fully seen and supported, therapy can offer a transformative opportunity to move forward with intention and compassion.
If I sound like the right therapist for you, please reach out! I’m excited to get to know you.
Rebecca works under the supervision of Isabel Kirk, LPC and Dr. Andreea Sofalvi, LPC, PhD.
