Recovering from a traumatic experience(s) or developmental trauma, requires that the painful emotions and memories be thoroughly processed. Trauma feelings cannot be repressed or forgotten. If they are not dealt with directly, the distressing feelings and troubling events replay over and over in the course of a lifetime. Moreover, it is creating a condition known as post-traumatic stress disorder. In addition, trauma can also haunt you for the rest of your life, creating different more settle issues (lack of self-care, perfectionism, addictions, toxic relationships, numbing, mild forms of anxiety and depression, sleep and eating problems, physical issues, so forth and so on).

Life Transitions & Personal Growth:

Marriage, a new teacher, going to college, a new job, moving to a new city, the birth of a child… these are all changes that bring good things into our lives and are part of the natural process of life. However, and from personal experience, I know that change does not go smoothly all the time. Especially when circumstances are hard. It is difficult for us to understand or even accept the role of change in our lives. I can help you incorporate change into your life and grow with it. “Life is changing. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.”

Acculturation:

A type of change with its own nuances. The same as with grief, acculturation has its own peculiarities and losses. You would need somebody that understands and has experience with the stages and therapeutic implications that this process involves. Acculturation doesn’t always mean a new culture or a new country. It could be within the same city, an organization or even, a new family. Many of our therapists have lived and are from across the world and other areas within the USA. Having been there ourselves, we can offer you the help that you need to make a good decision for you and make this journey more manageable.

Counseling doesn’t only help you overcome and grow from problems, but it is particularly helpful if you want to enhance your life or relationships!
